Convention Center), NRG Stadium (home of the Houston Texans and The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo), NRG Astrodome (“The” Astrodome), and NRG Arena.  We are seeking a unique Parking Operations Supervisor to join our Parking team.   The Parking Operations Supervisor, under direct supervision of the Parking Coordinator and Parking Manager, is responsible for thorough supervision, and coordination of direct personnel, subcontractors and vendors. Supervisor is responsible for the daily oversight of Parking’s outside operations/maintenance, event setups, traffic control and event signs by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate staff.  Also, acts as liaison between the facility and clients, ensuring all client’s requirements are met and facility rules, regulations and policies are adhered to.

Parking Coordinator and Parking Manager

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, set-up and execution of all traffic control plans.
  • Maintains labor on all events and ensures labor is within the projected guideline.
  • Responsible for informing and communicating event information to subordinate Parking Lot Staff including but not limited to Full-Time Parking Staff, Police Officers, Part-Time Lot Supervisors, Parking Leads, Wardrobe Staff and Parkers.
  • Assist in the planning, set-up and execution of all traffic control plans.
  • Responsible for supervising set up/tear down of all events, including sign making, sign distribution, cone/delineator placement and barrier installations.
  • Responsible for preparation, set up, organization and placement of all vehicle directional signs and pedestrian signs.
  • Ensures all signs are compliant with NRG Park standards.
  • Responsible for programming and maintenance of all Digital Message Signs.
  • Responsible for maintaining all equipment. Includes operating and maintaining the sweeper truck, golf carts, forklifts, etc.
  • Maintain inventory and accountability of tools, equipment, and materials pertaining to the Parking Operations Department.
  • Assist in the implementation of all new hire and continued education training for all Full-Time and Part-Time Parking Staff.
  • Help ensure all Parking Staff are compliant with NRG Park safety & compliance protocols.
  • Responsible for evaluating on the job performance for Part-Time Parking Staff.
  • Attend all meetings as required.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Duties include skilled and semi-skilled tasks, which often require heavy lifting, a high degree of physical exertion and walking or standing for long periods of time.  Acts as liaison between the facility and clients, ensuring all clients’ requirements are met and facility rules, regulations and policies are adhered to.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate, monitor, repair and maintain the facility’s plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems as required for the safe and efficient operation of the facility, but not limited to: Chillers, Boilers, Air Handling Units, Domestic Water Systems and other plumbing equipment.
  • Assist and perform preventive maintenance on equipment located in multiple buildings at facility.
  • Assist and perform preventive maintenance, repair, inspection, and rebuild as necessary to maintain quality standards on equipment and machinery at facility.
  • Drive folk lift and operate scissor lift.
  • Perform work in a manner consistent with plant safety, housekeeping standards and quality checks.

  • Boiler and Heating Systems Certification (3rd Grade Stationary License).
  • HVAC Certification I (Preferred; but not required) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of testing & treating water to maintain proper chemical levels and clarity is required.
  • Previous experience in operating the following equipment: Genie Lift, Fork Lift, JLG Boom-lift, Scissor-lifts as well as other motorized lifting equipment.

The Command Center Operator, under general supervision, is responsible for the surveillance of all security and television monitors on the facility and surrounding grounds; monitoring all access control systems and the dispatching of response personnel. Acts as liaison between the facility and clients, ensuring all clients’ requirements are met and facility rules, regulations and policies are adhered to.

  • Monitor all surveillance and access control equipment contained by the facility.
  • Prioritize situations and investigate/dispatch on all safety and security-related incidents.
  • Follow-up all incidents with written reports and recommendations.

We are seeking a unique Maintenance Carpenter Helper to join our Maintenance team. The Maintenance Carpenter Helper will be under general supervision of the Carpenter. Will assist the Carpenter in performing work as needed to maintain and repair facility operating systems throughout the year. Duties include skilled and semi-skilled tasks, which often require heavy lifting and a high degree of physical exertion. Will also act as a liaison between the facility and clients, ensuring all clients’ requirements are met and facility rules, regulations and policies are adhered to.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Include the following:

  • Coordinate Joint Marketing Agreement Sponsorship opportunities with tenants.
  • Manage sponsorship fulfillment to include facility signage and ticket allocations.
  • Contact prospective sponsor groups and individuals to initiate the sales effort.
  • Follow-up on leads generated by outside sources.
  • Compile bid proposals, sponsorship sales and revenues projection reports, client satisfaction studies and other relevant sales issues.
  • Participate in sponsorship sales presentations/proposals to prospective clients.
  • Conduct facility tours for prospective sponsorship clients.
  • Discuss the facility with site selection committees or designated others.
  • Assist in the preparation and design of sponsorship sales brochures, pamphlets, advertisements and other promotional materials.
  • Provide administrative support for personnel involved in Sales, Marketing, Public and Press Relations.
  • Compose routine correspondence and independently prepare correspondence not requiring a supervisor’s attention.
  • Maintain a variety of files and records of information such as budget, sales and marketing reports, event files, expense records and other related documents.
  • Process and submit department travel requests, petty cash reimbursements, budgeting reports and purchase requisitions/orders.
  • Coordinate various marketing strategies including direct mail, packages, letters, and catalogs.
  • Conduct customer/client surveys to obtain marketing information about organization products and services.
  • Participate in other new market research and design.
  • Organize and prepare market research for comprehensive reports and assist in drafting, proofreading and processing reports and other related documents.
  • Develop and maintain marketing database that includes bulk mailing addresses, leads, new prospective clients, bookings, and customer files.
  • Answer general questions, assist persons seeking general information and handle distribution of facility information.
  • Assist in coordinating special in-house events, client outings, trade shows and public relations programs.
  • Research media buying opportunities and review media publications for Company exposure.
  • Prepare quarterly marketing reports for SMG’s corporate office.
  • Work with the Interactive Marketing & Design Coordinator to develop social media strategies to be approved by the Director of Marketing & Public Relations.
  • Prepare written communication as needed to include press releases and media alerts.

  • Responsible for traffic control of all events.

  • Operate equipment, such as, light trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, access lifts, or other light power driven equipment.
  • May occasionally have to enter areas where fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals are present. Work at heights using correct safety equipment.
  • Develop and submit lists of necessary repairs and improvements.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Know general techniques in painting, plumbing, carpentry, and building hardware maintenance and electrical/lighting systems.
  • Shop math applicable to the building trades.
  • Possess understanding of the operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility.
  • Interpret shop drawings, sketches and work orders.
  • Understand and work from general instructions, specifications, blueprints, sketches and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Follow all policies/procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules, regulations and emergency procedures established at the facility.
  • Demonstrate ability to carry out tasks in a reliable, productive and expedient manner and be able to adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.
  • Organize and prioritize work from event overviews and task lists to meet deadlines. Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.
  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
  • Perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions.
  • Ensuring and following safety measures and regulations for forklift operation.
  • Ability to work long and irregular hours that may vary due to functions and may include day, evening, weekends and holidays.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or GED and one to three months related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Work independently, exercising judgement and initiative.
  • Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
  • Work in a fast paced environment.

Computer Skills:

  • Not applicable.

Other Qualifications:

  • Be licensed to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.
