NRG Park is in the fast lane for opportunity and excitement.  We are a one of a kind premier facility with four major venues within one giant park.  NRG Center (one million+ sq. ft. Convention Center), NRG Stadium (home of the Houston Texans and The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo), NRG Astrodome (“The” Astrodome), and NRG Arena.    We are seeking unique Part-Time Parking Attendants to join our Parking team.   The Parking Attendant, under direct supervision of the parking supervisory team, directs guests where to park in relation to events on NRG Park property. The position often requires lifting and a high degree of physical exertion.  Also, acts as liaison between the facility and clients, ensuring all clients’ requirements are met and facility rules, regulations and policies are adhered to.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must be customer friendly, self-motivated, and enjoy working around people in a fast paced environment.
  • Effectively communicate with guests, clients, vendors and other personnel via verbal and nonverbal forms of communication.
  • Responsible for safely directing traffic as instructed by his/her Supervisor.
  • Have a reliable form of transportation and communication.
  • Must comply with all SMG policies and procedures including the Business Conduct Policy and Code of Ethics.
  • Dress in department specified uniform according to the SMG Parking Policy.
  • Attend all meetings and trainings as required.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Possess understanding of the operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility.
  • Understand and work from general instructions, specifications, blueprints, sketches and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Follow all policies/procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules, regulations and emergency procedures established at the facility.
  • Demonstrate ability to carry out tasks in a reliable, productive and expedient manner and be able to adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.
  • Organize and prioritize work from event overviews and task lists to meet deadlines. Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.

  • Oversee Parkers to ensure job conformity.
  • Monitor staff levels and locations throughout the work day to maintain effective workflow of all parking lots.
  • Due to changes in traffic, Lead will coordinate with parking supervisors and parking management to ensure a steady flow of traffic.
  • Have a reliable form of transportation and communication.

Responsible for the daily oversight of Parking’s outside operations, cashier vault and event signs by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.  Also, acts as liaison between the facility and clients, ensuring all client’s requirements are met and facility rules, regulations and policies are adhered to.

Position Reports To:

Parking Manager

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for traffic control of all events.
  • Maintains labor on all events and ensures labor is within the projected guideline.
  • Responsible for informing and communicating event information to the Parking Supervisors, Cashier Supervisors and other staff.
  • Responsible for preparation, setup, organization and placement of all vehicle directional signs and pedestrian signs.
  • Ensures all signs are compliant with NRG Park standards.
  • Responsible for programming and maintenance of all DMS signs.
  • Responsible for any permits needed for sign placement.
  • Responsible for filing permits for road closures.
  • Works directly with Outside Police to ensure proper traffic control and staffing plans.
  • Responsible for the surveillance of parking gates which includes overseeing traffic flow, loss prevention and ensuring optimal staffing at all times.
  • Works extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining all equipment and ordering equipment for supplemental event needs.
  • Works directly with Event Management to ensure all event requests are handled effectively.
  • Oversees all aspects of parking and traffic operations including staffing, set-up and teardown of events, parking lot maintenance and coordinates pre and post event walkthroughs of all areas in use.
  • Attend all meetings as required.
  • Operates company vehicles as needed.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

  • Participate in all aspects of the conversion process in preparation for events. Duties may include setting up and tearing down flooring, portable chairs, operable walls, stage barricades, staging, bike rack, turnstiles, tables, other furnishings and equipment.

  • Perform repairs and maintenance tasks on equipment such as tables, chairs, staging, stage barricades, stage stairs, bike rack and retractable seating.
  • Report irregularities, discrepancies, damage of equipment and property, loss of property and equipment and safety concerns promptly to supervisor, manager and director.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or GED and one to three months related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
  • Work in a fast paced environment.

Other Qualifications

  • Be licensed to operate a motor vehicle in the United States is preferred.
  • Ability to operate a sit-down Forklift preferred.
