NRG Park is in the fast lane for opportunity and excitement. We are a one of a kind premier facility with four major venues within one giant park. NRG Center (one million+ sq. ft. Convention Center), NRG Stadium (home of the Houston Texans and the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo), NRG Astrodome (“The” Astrodome), and NRG Arena. We are seeking unique Part-Time Interns to join our team. Interns are expected to work a minimum of twenty (20) hours per week. The time period of the Internship can be adjusted to meet the requirements of the degree plan of the student, and/or with the approval of the General Manager.

  • Shadow and assist varied positions within SMG NRG Park to learn a variety of skills which may include: graphics, billing, content development, sports marketing/ sponsorships, Technical Services Audio Visual, Scoreboard / Videoboard Operations, Smart City Networks (Event Setup), Security, Safety, Maintenance, Engineering, Parking, Finance and/or Operations.
  • Perform administrative duties, maintain files, organize documents, photocopy, fax, etc. as needed.

  • Enrollment in or graduated from a two or four year program at an accredited college or university with the intent to pursue a career in the Sports and Entertainment industry.
  • Major course of study in one of the following areas:
    • Sports Management/Administration
    • Sales
    • Communications (i.e. Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism or Advertising)
    • Security or Safety (i.e. Criminal Justice, Security Management, Homeland Security, Safety Management, Occupational Safety & Health, etc.).

  • Previous experience preferred.

Convention Center), NRG Stadium (home of the Houston Texans and The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo), NRG Astrodome (“The” Astrodome), and NRG Arena.    We are seeking a unique Operations Manager to join our Operations team.   The Operations Manager, under general supervision, coordinates, supervises, and directs personnel, subcontractors, and the daily activities involved in the successful execution of events and maintenance of the facility by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.  Acts as liaison between the facility and clients, ensuring all clients’ requirements are met and facility rules, regulations and policies are adhered to.

Director of Operations

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of operations including event coordination and services, rigging, housekeeping, event staffing, set-ups and changeovers, crowd and risk management, fire and life safety and ADA compliance.
  • Manage subordinate supervisors who oversee employees in various functions. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Implement and train all employees on the operating procedures, preventive maintenance schedules, emergency plans, and safety/risk management policies that conform to NRG Park standards.
  • Assist in the preparation and negotiation of service agreements for event services, housekeeping services, maintenance, and other agreements as needed. Review contracts for compliance with event and/or government specifications and NRG Park requirements.
  • Review contracts, communicate with tenants, and work with subcontractors to determine special requirements.   Inspect conversions, construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established specifications.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget and recommend an annual capital budget for long-range repairs and improvements to the facility. Authorize the requisition of equipment and supplies within budget guidelines.
  • Act as a liaison between tenants and facility contractors as needed.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

  • Fork lift experience preferred.

  • Assist in the planning, set-up and execution of all traffic control plans.
  • Responsible for supervising set up/tear down of all events, including sign making, sign distribution, cone/delineator placement and barrier installations.
  • Responsible for preparation, set up, organization and placement of all vehicle directional signs and pedestrian signs.
  • Ensures all signs are compliant with NRG Park standards.
  • Responsible for programming and maintenance of all Digital Message Signs.
  • Responsible for maintaining all equipment. Includes operating and maintaining the sweeper truck, golf carts, forklifts, etc.
  • Maintain inventory and accountability of tools, equipment, and materials pertaining to the Parking Operations Department.
  • Assist in the implementation of all new hire and continued education training for all Full-Time and Part-Time Parking Staff.
  • Help ensure all Parking Staff are compliant with NRG Park safety & compliance protocols.
  • Responsible for evaluating on the job performance for Part-Time Parking Staff.

Convention Center), NRG Stadium (home of the Houston Texans and The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo), NRG Astrodome (“The” Astrodome), and NRG Arena.    We are seeking a unique Full-Time Operating Engineer I to join our Engineering team.   The Operating Engineer I, under general supervision, performs work as needed to maintain our Central Plant and repair our facility mechanical, electrical and plumbing operating systems. Duties include skilled and semi-skilled tasks, which often require heavy lifting, a high degree of physical exertion and walking or standing for long periods of time.  Acts as liaison between the facility and clients, ensuring all clients’ requirements are met and facility rules, regulations and policies are adhered to.

Position Reports To:

Chief Engineer

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate, monitor, repair and maintain the facility’s plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems as required for the safe and efficient operation of the facility, but not limited to: Chillers, Boilers, Air Handling Units, Domestic Water Systems and other plumbing equipment.
  • Assist and perform preventive maintenance on equipment located in multiple buildings at facility.
  • Assist and perform preventive maintenance, repair, inspection, and rebuild as necessary to maintain quality standards on equipment and machinery at facility.
  • Drive folk lift and operate scissor lift.
  • Perform work in a manner consistent with plant safety, housekeeping standards and quality checks.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

  • Two (2) or more years’ experience operating and maintaining building HVAC, Mechanical and Plumbing Systems in a Commercial/Industrial Facility.
  • Any Level Type I, II, III of EPA Certification for refrigeration is required.
  • Technical training in HVAC a plus but not required.
  • HVAC Water Treatment Certification.
  • Boiler and Heating Systems Certification (3rd Grade Stationary License).
  • HVAC Certification I (Preferred; but not required) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of testing & treating water to maintain proper chemical levels and clarity is required.
  • Previous experience in operating the following equipment: Genie Lift, Fork Lift, JLG Boom-lift, Scissor-lifts as well as other motorized lifting equipment.

Part-Time Police Officers are responsible for protecting and promoting the safety and welfare of NRG Park facilities, guests, and staff while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and department policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide traffic control and security for the property, facility, costumers, and patrons.
  • Respond to and enforce all applicable laws and respective agency policies.
  • Complete incident reports as required by law and an internal report for NRG Park property.
  • Support facility personnel in the event of an emergency to include evacuation, lock down or shelter-in-place responses.
  • Deescalate potentially unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Perform security related patrols in concourses, lobbies, or parking lots.
  • Monitor access points to the NRG Park property and facilities to ensure only authorized entry is gained. This includes parking lot gates, facility security check-points, and other points of ingress and egress.
  • Operates assigned radio equipment.
  • Offer customer services such as directional information, vehicle jump-starts and escorts as necessary.
  • Attend Guest Service related trainings and orientations as requested.
  • Monitor or secure high value assets such as money rooms, box offices, or Cashier gates.
  • Stand for extended periods of time for 4 or more hours.
  • Work in inclement weather as the position is routinely required to work outdoors and is exposed to the elements (heat, rain, etc.)

  • Prepare and submit daily deposits as revenue is received.

  • Monitor all surveillance and access control equipment contained by the facility.
  • Prioritize situations and investigate/dispatch on all safety and security-related incidents.

We are seeking a unique Maintenance Carpenter Helper to join our Maintenance team. The Maintenance Carpenter Helper will be under general supervision of the Carpenter. Will assist the Carpenter in performing work as needed to maintain and repair facility operating systems throughout the year. Duties include skilled and semi-skilled tasks, which often require heavy lifting and a high degree of physical exertion. Will also act as a liaison between the facility and clients, ensuring all clients’ requirements are met and facility rules, regulations and policies are adhered to.

  • Proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance to existing structures including but not limited to parking signs, podiums, crates and storage containers.

  • Assist in managing carpentry inventory of tools and materials.
