ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Safety & Compliance Manager at NRG Park in Houston, Texas.  NRG Park is in the fast lane for opportunity and excitement.  We are a one-of-a-kind premier facility with four major venues within one giant park.  NRG Center (one million+ sq. ft. Convention Center), NRG Stadium (home of the Houston Texans and The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo), NRG Astrodome (“The” Astrodome), and NRG Arena.  We are seeking a unique Safety & Compliance Manager to join our Safety team. Under general supervision of the Director of Safety & Security, the Safety & Compliance Manager is responsible for implementing and administering all the environmental, health and safety programs at the venue. The primary responsibility of the Safety & Compliance Manager is to maintain venue compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. An understanding of permit requirements, the regulatory process, venue operations, and the ability to identify, define, investigate, and assess safety problems are crucial to the role. Expertise in training, auditing, industrial hygiene, workers compensation, as well as hazard identification and correction is required.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following:

  • Identifying and ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local applicable requirements
  • Administering and maintaining existing safety programs, policies, and procedures as well as developing specific programs as needed.
  • Contractor Safety Management compliance to all Corporate Best Practices and venue policies interfacing with outside vendors as necessary to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • OSHA compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinating industrial hygiene related testing and programs.
  • Assisting other departmental supervisor and managers in the oversight of safety compliance.
  • Work with Human resources to ensure all required training is completed and documented in Bigfoot system.
  • Work with Maintenance Program Manager to coordinator preventive maintenance plans for all life safety, compliance inspections, etc.
  • Organizing safety related documentation.
  • Conducting and establishing venue inspections and audits to assess compliance with Corporate Best Practices, venue policies and regulations that include hazard analysis, safe work procedures, etc.
  • Lead incident investigations both internally and with the client as required by attending any applicable investigations and subsequent meetings, ensuring venues’ safety policies are met. Facilitate timely completion of accident/injury reporting.
  • Oversee all aspects of safety committee including serving as Chairperson, regular review and updating of all safety plans and conducting regular site inspections for safety compliance. Facilitating safety committee to train, investigate and address accident and injury reports.
  • Monitor regulatory process to identify future applicable regulations and their impact on operations
  • Create and maintain physical and electronic library of all inspection documentation.
  • Assist with the compliance for emergency generators and the proper documentation of building systems relative to Life Safety.
  • Assist with ADA compliance.
  • Coordinate the periodic insurance carrier site visits and appropriate documentation and follow up.
  • Work closely with and coordinate with other managers to ensure safety policies are being adhered to.
  • Promote, train, and monitor for compliance with corporate best practices.
  • Conduct frequent facility inspections and note deficiencies and supervise necessary action plans for remediation.
  • Support management in the development and implementation of effective safety policies to address employee and client injury trends. Assist with identifying non conformances and deficiencies.
  • Supervises maintenance of material safety data sheets so they are always accessible according to regulatory requirements.
  • Requires ability to work extended and flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays in addition to normal business hours.
  • Conduct and present OSHA related information to supervisors and clients as necessary.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience   

  • Degree in occupational health & Safety, environmental, engineering, or similar field
  • Certifications a plus (i.e., OHST, CHST, CSP, CHSO)
  • Have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical Environmental Health & Safety experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.


Skills and Abilities

  • Experience managing multiple regulatory compliance programs such as Toxic and Hazardous Substances (e.g., Asbestos, Lead, etc.,) Lock-Out / Tag-Out, Confined Space, Respiratory, Hearing Conservation, etc.
  • Experience working with represented (Union) employees, trades, contractors
  • Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, and other related materials.


Computer Skills  

  • Operate standard office equipment and personal computer(s) using Outlook, MS Windows, Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Operate standard office equipment including copier, radio, and fax machine.


Other Qualifications 

  • Be licensed to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.
